Writers are a self-sacrificing bunch. We spend hours and hours on end, pouring our thoughts into the page, with little to no self care in sight. Writers are self-starters, self-motivated people.
But it is no secret that self care is important for writers. We need to take care of ourselves in order to be successful and live a happy life. It's easy for us to get lost in our work and forget about self-care completely. There are many ways for writers to take care of themselves, but sometimes we get it wrong!
Here is how you can do self-care right:
⭐ Make time for your writing practice everyday
⭐ Get enough sleep
"Sleep is the best meditation." – Dalai Lama
⭐ Create healthy habits like drinking water or doing yoga
When we take care of our bodies, we are able to think more clearly and be more productive. Some healthy habits that writers can adopt are drinking plenty of water, doing yoga or stretching, and eating nutritious food.
⭐ Set up boundaries so you can maintain balance with your personal life
⭐ Read books on self-care that will inspire you
Self-care is a journey and it's important to have the right mindset when taking on this new task. There are many self-help books out there if you need inspiration or ideas for self care. For example, check out The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod or You Are A Badass: How To Stop Doubting Your Greatness And Start Living An Awesome Life by Jen Sincero.
Self-care is an important part of being a writer, and it's something we should all take seriously. By reading books on self-care, we are able to learn new techniques and strategies for taking care of ourselves.
What are some other self-care books that you can recommend to other writers? Let us know in the comments!
